Lord, We’ve Never Been This Way Before

Lord, we’ve never been this way before.
The world has changed in a day, it seems,
And we don’t really know what it means
But things sure aren’t the same
And we feel the strain
We’re much more comfortable with what was familiar
But now we are forced to morph into a new normal
And the future is not totally foreseeable
At least, not for us.
You see it.
In fact, you saw this coming.
You were prepared for this
And now you’re working in the midst of it.
Perhaps this is part of your plan
To bring revival across this land.
Perhaps this is a time of shaking, shaping, and shifting
A time of growth & depth, & spiritual uplifting.
Perhaps this is a season of revelation and change
A call to deeper faithfulness for the glory of your name.
Maybe you don’t want things to ever be the same.
Holding on and simply making it through to the others side
May not be what you have in mind.
Through crucibles and testing comes testimony.
From tough times and ashes comes brand new beauty.
Through challenges and dark nights comes transformation.
Through the cross comes resurrection!
So, what if this is not about gutting it out and getting back to normal
And instead it is preparation for a dynamic new way of being as we move into a a new future?
Lord,
Let us learn the lessons you have for us,
even if they are hard
and force us to come face to face with things that must change.
Lead us and let us learn from you as you speak the truth
and renew our hearts, minds and lives that we might follow you
more closely and faithfully than ever before.
For the glory of our Lord,
Amen.
