Coronavirus: A Prayer for Ministers

By Mark A. Vincenti

Penned: 3/20/2020

Jesus be our peace.

Not just from the stressful news of night

Or the viral arrow that flies by day

But in the midst of panic in deep places

That we might not realize is really there.

The fear that your church might fall apart

if we don’t do everything possible to keep it together.

We do care, Lord, and we want to see the church thrive.

We love you and want to work hard for your glory.

But Lord, we are tempted to forget that this is your church, not ours.

It’s easy to forget that you are the One who must work

In order to touch hearts and shape lives during this time.

So as we adjust to a new normal,

Would you remind us each day that you love us.

You are sovereign.

You’ve got this.

May we not allow this moment to morph in to ministry madness

Frantic striving and hurried activity, hoping we can make it through

Rather, remind us to breathe and to trust you.

Remind us to pray and to look to you

and to listen to you

and to let you lead us.

You are our Good Shepherd

So let us hear your voice.

Lead us through the valley and to quiet streams

To a table where you feed us in the presence of this enemy.

You are our Prince of Peace.

Remind us.

We trust you with our lives, our ministries, our church.

Amen.
